Resolving labor issues like strikes and protests

The labor union was created for the benefit of the workers but it should not be detrimental to the well-being of the company. I have seen how some labor unions would be so demanding as to abuse their right. An HR manager should have close connection with the union officers so that there will be a good relationship and the bargaining would be civil. Some HR managers tell me that labor unions need not be abusive if they clearly know what their organization is for.

I guess it depends on the kind of labor union that a company has. When the union has activists for officers, the company should be very diplomatic and it is imperative to have a good relation with the union officers. Some unions harass the company by wildcat strikes or sometimes sit-down strikes where the workers come to the workplace just to sit down and do not work. When that happens it is clear calamity for the company.
