Finding an illegal item in the warehouse

There was a case where some guns were found in one warehouse (upon the tip of an insider). The manager was greatly surprised that their warehouse was being used as a depot for imported guns. I am posting this topic to provide an advice to warehouse managers to be discerning with the workers and to have the entire warehouse checked once in a while for undesired items stored inside.

If there are robust checks in place at the point of receipt this will never happen - the process for checking goods (or the management of the checks) is clearly failing - if you need to check the warehouse for goods which shouldn't be there you have already lost the fight.

There is an actual case that I had seen in the news where a warehouse was supposed to be under construction but when the cops raided the premises they found out that it was being used as a drug laboratory which produces illegal drugs. The funny thing is that no one could speak for the owner of the warehouse which was supposed to be under construction but the upper floors are completed and fully furnished.

I wonder how people can think of making the warehouse a gambling den. Making matters worse is that the owner of the warehouse didn’t have an idea of what’s happening. So who is at fault? It is the warehouse manager who did the machinations of giving the impression that everything is normal until the cops smelled what’s happening inside. Sorry if I cannot divulge more details, this is a confidential discovery.
