This happened a few years back right in Metro Manila. A welder, who was doing repairs on the iron grills of a slippers factory, accidentally hit a pile of plastic and rubber materials that ignited and created a big fire that killed 74 workers who were trapped inside the factory. The question now is the responsibility – who is the main responsible for the fire? The authorities are pointing to the management of the factory for the lack of fire safety measures. There were no functioning fire extinguishers and the place was a fire trap. Poor workers, they died just because of negligence on the part of the management.
