Cost reduction by a slight price discount

It is like neutralizing the impact of the price increase. An example is the gasoline that spikes when the world market experiences shortage. What gas stations here do is to give discounts. One gas station is giving out coupons for 15% discount and we are usually given that courtesy of one supermarket. At least we do not seem to feel the price increase.

The unexpected price discount from some consumer stores like supermarkets are tools to fight off the rising prices. What they do is to choose the best selling products for price increase and the lesser popular products to be granted a discount. The overall image of the discounted products will give the store an air of friendliness to customers since price is rising in general but there are items with discounts for the love of customers.
