It's not the first time Chinese government mentioned the Carbon Reduction, but it is said that this time the government planed to collect tax for carbon from individual as well as manufacturers expecially in the coal industry, oil industry and so on.

But the exactly tax rate and time table is still on discussion.

I have been coming across that term carbon reduction not only in China but in European countries as well. Pardon me but it has not sank into me yet on what it's all about. But I understand that China has the most number of coal-fired generators. Is it related to that or is that carbon reduction something else?

Re: Chinese Carbon Emmision Reduction

A few years ago China signed a treaty to reduce its carbon emissions. At this point with global warming, more people are afraid of carbon than they are of nuclear power. Nuclear power can destroy a lot of things and the radioactive waste is a problem; however, it is not steadily heating up the world.

I don't know what China is doing. But, they are capable of doing something about it since they have a non-democratic form of government. Although, I have always said that the biggest polluter has always been the US, and the US hasn't really done much to curb things yet. As long as China has another country to point to as the culprit, it won't do anything itself.

Re: Chinese Carbon Emmision Reduction

The latest Change Performance Index has revealed that there has
s been a slowing in the rate of carbon emissions in China because of efforts by the government there to clean up the atmosphere. the big disappointment, however, is that no progress is been made at the United Nations Climate Change Talks, in Warsaw, Poland towards seeking to keep global temperature increases below 2-degress centigrade. The spotlight is been mostly aimed at China, which may be the largest provider of carbon emission but there are many other large countries that are resisting the effort to reduce carbon emissions and if you should add up their emission capacity they would probably pose a larger threat to the environment than China alone.

Re: Chinese Carbon Emmision Reduction

According to this report https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2015/dec/02/china-says-it-will-cut-power-sector-emissions-60-by-2020 dated December of last year, China was willing to cut carbon emissions by more than half around the year 2020. However, in May of this year, it's been reported that their carbon emission problems have already peaked. The government is struggling to solve it. Hopefully, they'll find a way out of this predicament. Their attempts to industrialize has obviously backfired.

I find that China is an example in the fight against global warming even if the results are not yet there

That site has nothing to do wit the topic?
This was exactly my thought on reading the content at first glance on the contents topic. It's basically off topic with zero relationship with what the sub forum or tab is all about.
