I'm asked to manage a bakeshop in terms of supplies. Anyone who knows how to improve our supplier management effectively? I wonder how you handle supplier quality issues? What approach or system that can be used to gather and track supplier's performance data across site? I'm hoping a bit advice from others who's into same business.

Re: Any tips about a supply chain traceability

1.Improve your distribution network. Distribution network affects everything from delivery tracking strategy to sales strategy. look at your purchasing software and see how it works with your delivery system. Does it communicate well with production foreman or warehouse managers? If it’s not as efficient as you’d like it to be, you can identify where changes need to be made. If you want your company to receive an industry award for timely delivery, figure out all key stakeholders (delivery teams, production supervisors, etc.) to partner with and essential processes to improve.
2. Cash flow monitoring is very important to improve supplier management.
3. Track your inventory.

SeaGreen,

I think you might like this article. A pre-determined quality measurement with your supplier will allow you to check for quality and submit disputes to your suppliers.

There are many methods to use, but random sampling is one.

This is very critical for the food suppliers isn't it?

I hope this information is useful to you. Please share the comment if you are interested in this services, so that i can elaborate more.

When it comes to supplier quality, the most important for me is the random spot visit to the origin of the supplies. If it is farm products then an announced visit to the farm and also to the warehouse would be a good way of checking on the quality of the products. Would you believe that there was a supplier of vegetables who claimed he has a farm but he was actually just buying the vegetables from the farmers.

There is an unprecedented level of dichotomy in the way enterprises and manufacturers are experiencing the sea of changes around them today. On one end, there are disruptions such as artificial intelligence and bots with so much emphasis on predictive analytics. On the other hand, to most of the conventional problems of the industry, they still take a very reactive approach which is more often, than not, too late and too little.

Read the article to know the three primary goals in supply chain efficiency where visibility could play a key role
