    Default Backup suppliers

For businesses dealing with a variety of merchandise, it is common to have several suppliers that deliver different items. For example, a hardware gets lumber from one supplier and another supplier delivers cement. The supplier of lumber serves as backup supplier of cement and vice versa. That way, there is continuity of supplies when a supplier fails to deliver.

That sounds fairly normal, unless the company has signed an exclusive supply deal with one supplier to get a discount or preferable terms. You'll find with IT, many companiues sign exclusive supply deals for their computer equipment with Dell or other large suppliers who can handle everything from supply and support to end of lifecycle and disposal.
