Default The strategies should be followed for a successful logistics business

Sometimes, internal logistics may be the best way to go for a company if supply chain management serves as a value additional point. If the latter part of production plays an important role in sustaining competitive advantage, then it would be wiser to stick to internal logistics.

In other scenarios, a company's internal capabilities may be sufficient enough to handle supply chain logistics. Consequently, the need to employ external parties may not be necessary. In other words, when the technology, infrastructure and core competencies within a certain company have not been surpassed, then it is advisable to continue utilizing internal logistics expertise. (Hamilton, 2008)

Sometimes, the culture within a specific company may not fall in line with that respective company's logistical strategies. This means that even if a company has assessed its logistics requirements and found that there is a need to employ external parties, prevailing organizational culture may make it impossible to do so and this may undermine the success of outsourcing. Consequently, such companies would rather stick to what they know best i.e. internal logistics expertise.

As supply chain is constant changing the companies are creating a logistics strategy that defines the service levels for optimizing cost effective. The logistics strategy should examine the structural issues of the logistics organization, such as the optimum number of warehouses and distribution centers or what products should be produced at a specific manufacturing plant.

There are n numbers of strategies in logistics and to depend on one will not help for the longer period of time. If a company has facilities to implement new strategy into motion then it must go for it but its outcome must be beneficial for the company in long as well as short term.

yes true said there are number of strategies in logistics and its application depends on the company and their policies whether they use a particular strategy for a short run or for a long run it also depends on the success which a transportation company or a logistic company will get from it. Also there is a continuous need to alter the policies according to the changing scenario hence the strategy so used should be flexible enough to be changed as per the changing situations in the business.

Well for me, I agree that strategies should be followed in order to achieve a successful logistics business. I also somewhat agree to silliker because some companies are succesful because they outsource some of their processes. Strategies and idea are the best help for a logistics business to be successful, the execution and the process is the triggering factor.

There are bound to be constant changes and variations with respect to the business involved. Hence it is not suggested to follow a strategy which is quite outdated. The plans are continuously updated rapidly as time progresses and we must be in sync with the ever-changing schemes.

Supply chain is a continuous process, it needs a proper consideration on the overall process. A successful end to end supply chain needs to adopt modern tools and strategy which is eco-friendly.
