I donít think you can learn the supply chain concept in just one reading because supply chain is a big industry that deal with a variety of products and services. Based on my experience my own concept of supply chain is the movement of the products from the manufacturer to the end user. The manufacturer can be a factory or farm which can produce products for consumer but the said products have to pass by several channels. The main objective of supply chain management is to ensure the smooth flow of the products.

Re: Can someone explain to me concept of supply chain management?

Supply chain management refers to the oversight of a process that ends with the secure delivery of freight to a final destination, but it never stops. It’s something that requires logistics, to assist with integrating operations so they seamlessly fit together. There are many branches that go into supply chain management: innovation and product development, purchasing and sourcing, manufacturing and operations, logistics, distribution, and customer service.

The supply chain is constantly shifting in order to give the business a competitive advantage, and managing it is becoming an all-inclusive experience. New tech that is built with machine learning and artificial intelligence capabilities are going to change supply chain management as we know it.

    Hope this helps.

I am referring one book related to supply chain - JDA software special edition digital supply chain.
The book has great knowledge of warehouse management and anything related to logistics and supply chain.

Yes, the supply chain management involves optimizing your operations to maximize both speed and efficiency. Speed is important because customers value fast service. Increasing speed, however, can cause costs to skyrocket, so maximizing efficiency is equally important. The most effective supply chains deliver products as fast and as cheaply as possible without sacrificing quality. Some companies like Ecoark accomplish this by using complicated logistics tools, such as computer algorithms that choose optimal routes for product shipping and large company databases that allow distant employees to pool order information and coordinate their efforts in real time.
