  • Is email marketing still effective?

A couple of years back before the dawn and incursion of all the social media networks we all make use of today, emal marketing was the of all marketing tools but as they goes by it looks like email marketing has been on a massive decline. Although some people are still making use of email marketing but some people are not interested in marketing carried out using emails for all purposes and intent are seen as scams.

I have to agree that email marketing was a great tool before the social media came in. That was the time when computers users, particularly those with internet connections, rely on the email not only for the personal communications but also for the business side of it. But now I donít think it is that effective anymore because based on my own experience, my emails are just the usual bills and the promotional emails go directly to the spam folder. That is a clear weak point of email marketing.

I am torn between a yes and a no for an answer because until now I still receive some marketing promotions in my inbox. Maybe the email marketing style now is much better than the email in the olden times because links are included where you can see the details of the product or service that is being promoted. But for me, I would rather promote my business in social media because the interaction is more dynamic than the email marketing. Besides, you can build up your business profile in social media for free.

Indeed, social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and so on are very powerful and dominant took for social and business connections recently. They have drastically affected the use of email marketing to the extent of almost rendering it irrelevant because just as you pointed out, some of these marketing emails are pushed to pushed to spam folder. Some people don't even check their email in weeks or months as a result of their use of social media.
